This striking beauty with the golden eyes is Betty! She's a Border Collie/ Labrador Retriever Mix who's about 2-3 years old, spayed, current on her vaccinations, microchipped, house trained & crate trained and doesn't mind hanging out or sleeping in her crate. She loves being around dogs and would be a happy girl if her Forever Home has at least one playful dog but it's not a necessity. Betty is great with kids, is scared of puppies, ignores her Foster Mom's cats and behaves nicely around cows.
Life hasn't been easy for this sweet girl. We believe her owner kept her outside and never socialized her then dropped her off at Animal Control where she was going to be euthanized! One look at her terrified face was all it took for our President to save her. Betty spent some time in a Foster Home, then went to boarding & daycare - which she loves - and now she's in another Foster Home and ready for her Forever Home! She's a friendly young lady but does tend to bark at strangers occasionally, and she can be a bit sassy if she meets a dog she doesn't like, which isn't often.
Betty is sweet but not overly affectionate. When she's in the mood for love, she likes to give kisses and cuddle with her favorite people. She enjoys attention, both belly rubs & ear scratches make her happy, but if you scratch certain parts of her back, she loves it so much her lip curls up in the most adorable way! When she was in her first Foster Home, she was allowed to sleep in bed with her Foster Dad, a luxury she never had. This started a nightly ritual of Betty licking his face & grooming him before they fell asleep! In her current Foster Home, she likes to sleep at the foot of the bed of her Foster Family's daughter, and she recently enjoyed a slumber party when their daughter had a friend over and Betty was allowed to sleep with them! Gorgeous with shiny black fur, she has a white tux with black spots and her paws all have a little white on them except her right front paw, which is all white. She has the sweetest sprinkles of white around her nose & mouth and her eyes are incredibly beautiful, a golden brown that stands out when the sun shines on them. Her Foster Mom says she has such a beautiful soul you can see it in her eyes, which just touches her heart! Betty's smile lights up her whole face and makes it easy to fall in love with her! A bundle of personality, this charming young lady made a lot of friends at daycare, both human & canine! And, she has a silly quirk that just makes her more lovable - she's obsessed with shadows and reflections from sunlight, like when the sun shines on a cell phone and she can see it's reflection on the wall or ceiling. She doesn't understand what it is and the looks on her face are priceless!
Extremely energetic, Betty's favorite activity is playing! She has the time of her life playing with other dogs, she likes toys, especially balls & sticks, and her most favorite place to play is in a pool! She loved the kiddie pools at daycare and now she's having a blast in her Foster Family's big pool! Betty and their daughter spend most of their time together in the pool having a fantastic time! If the daughter runs & jumps into the pool with a toy, she'll release the toy so Betty, who jumps in right after her, can find it when it surfaces! But, Betty is pretty smart and now she sticks her head underwater and grabs the toy from her before she can take it to the bottom to release it! She's so silly you can't help but laugh! Betty is not a dog who would be happy stuck inside a house all day, she'd love to live on an enclosed farm where she could run & play for hours, and would even be happy with a big fenced-in backyard with room to run. She doesn't tire easy so it's very important for her to play and run to burn off some of her energy, which will keep her happy & healthy.
A smart girl, Betty listens when she wants and can be a bit stubborn. She has been working with our trainer and is very trainable! She knows the commands Sit & Stay and she likes all treats so that might prove useful when it comes to teaching her more commands. She loves being outdoors with her human and likes for them to be around her, interacting with her. Walks are a nice way for her to release some energy and bond with her people although she does pull on the leash. She also likes to sniff things along the way and has a tendency to mark while outside. She loves going for car rides but isn't a fan of events or places with a lot of people & noise. She doesn't misbehave but she does get scared so she'd prefer more calm, quiet places.
Betty looks forward to a lifetime of happiness and will thrive in a home with playful dogs and a loving yet firm owner who will guide her when needed, spend time with her and love her forever.
