This stunning beauty with the incredibly gorgeous smile is Sammy! She's a Collie/Shepherd Mix who's around 4-5 years old, spayed, current on her vaccinations, house trained & crate trained but isn't a fan of hanging out in her crate. Sammy is one of those special girls who prefers to have all the attention to herself and she would be happiest in a home without any pets or children.
Sammy was the only dog on the euthanasia list at Animal Control when our Rescue President saw her. The only reason she was being put down was because she was shy & terrified! It was our President's birthday and she wasn't going to let this beautiful girl die on her birthday so she rescued her and named her Sammy, using her own name & initials.
Sammy is as sweet & affectionate as she looks! She's bonded closely with her Foster Mom and loves spending time with her. Her favorite activity is snuggling, especially in bed at night before falling asleep! She gives the sweetest, softest kisses and is always happy to see her Foster Mom when she comes home! She enjoys attention, belly rubs are her favorite, and she likes being petted and loved on - which is pretty easy to do! She has a gorgeous face with white around her nose and the beginning of her eyebrows are dark, which makes her beautiful brown eyes stand out! Sammy's smile is the biggest, most beautiful we've ever seen and can brighten anybody's day! When she tilts her head and smiles while looking you in the eyes, she'll steal your heart! Her golden coat is soft & beautiful and her tail has an adorable curve to it and the tip is white! She's a beautiful girl in so many ways!
Once she eats and has a full belly, Sammy likes to play! She loves all toys and her Foster Mom has given her a lot to choose from! Her favorites are balls and a hard rubber bone but she also likes toys with squeakers and stuffed animals that she can pull the stuffing out of. She loves playing fetch, whether it's with a Frisbee or a ball, she'll chase it down and have the time of her life! She also likes playing tug-of-war with her Foster Mom!
An intelligent girl with a stubborn streak who listens well, Sammy knows basic commands such as Sit, Stay & Down. When she was rescued, she couldn't wait to show those skills off! She loves chewy treats so those could help with teaching her more commands or even tricks! She loves going for car rides and enjoys going for walks but needs to work on leash training. This sweet girl has a shy streak and doesn't like strangers so she'll be working with a trainer who will help her understand new people aren't bad and teach her manners when meeting them, along with leash training. We cannot emphasize enough that she should not be around children at this time because of that and because she's a strong girl who doesn't realize her own strength and could accidentally knock a child over while playing. She also does not like dogs and cats, so much that she doesn't go to public places, which the trainer will also be addressing. We strongly recommend her Forever Family keep her away from other pets unless a trained professional works with her on this.
Sammy looks forward to finding a Forever Home who will understand she's a lovable sweetheart but has a few problems that need worked on. She requires a loving, patient home without pets or kids, that has a lot of toys where she'll get many snuggle sessions! She'd love a fenced-in backyard to run around and play in, but it's not required. If you'd like to give this stunning beauty with the incredibly gorgeous smile the love & attention she needs, please fill out an Adoption Application for Sammy.
